Welcome to our class.
Our teachers are Mrs Kane (Monday/ Tuesday) and Mrs Harry (Wednesday-Friday). Our teaching assistant is Alison.
Our topic this term is North America
PE will be on Thursdays and Fridays. PE kits, including trainers, must be kept in school at all times.
In year 3 and 4 children are set English or Maths homework each week. Homework will be given out on a Friday and is due the following Thursday. We expect homework to be completed neatly using a sharp pencil, and ruler, if needed. Rubbing out should be avoided (put one line through any mistakes, as in class).
Spellings/Times tables/Maths Marathon
Times tables/related facts are set on Mondays and tested the following week.
Spellings are set on Fridays and tested the following week.
Children should also practise recall of related inverses while learning tables’ facts –
e.g. 4 x 5 = 20 and 20 ÷ 4 = 5 or ‘How many fives in 20?’
Children will need to correctly answer each set of tables’ questions 3 times before moving on. They will have a Tables’ card to record their progress
Once children have learned all times tables, inverses and related facts they will have tables’ related questions and problems to solve.
Children should read daily for at least 10 minutes. If your child is a free reader they may wish to read silently. It would be helpful if you could ask them some questions to check their understanding and enjoyment, or discuss any unfamiliar vocabulary. Non free readers should read aloud so that the adult listening can check fluency, understanding and pace.
